checkmate enforcer 350 to big block???
i have a 1985 checkmate enforcer 24' it curently has a 350 with an alpha one and it runs about 60mph now id like to get it up around 70. so i was wondering if droping in a BBC would be the answer?
and if i did drop in a BBC i would think id have to swap out the alpha with a bravo one
any input would be a great help
thanks in advance

A big block even an old 330 HP will get you there...Due to the weight it may porpoise more than it does now...There are a couple of companies that can beef up your Alpha to handle more power. Why not just add some power adders to your small block? 350 plus hp is easy to get on a SB and tons of parts available new or used cheap...Al

Another thought, if you go the big block/drive route you would be better off selling yours as is and pick up a same era 25' Convincor that will already have a BB in it ! With a 370 hp BB with TRS it will run a solid 70 all day...You cant even compare an Enforcer to a Convincor....That extra foot gives 10 times the boat...Drive one and you will see...Very easy to find a good one too!!! well the story is my dad just bought a 29' fountain and my father and i restored this boat completely so id like to hold on to it and for how much we have into it we wouldnt get anywhere close out of it...so i dont know weather to play with the small block or just drop in a bigblock.
what would i have to do to make the small block run 70s?
any companys you know of to beef up the alpha? or would it be cheeper to bolt on a used bravo?
thanks for all the help

you cant just bolt on a bravo. you have to pull the alpha transom assy, cut the transom hole bigger, and bolt in a bravo transom assy. thats about 3k in parts. I'd build the 350, and buy a couple spare alphas.

I wasn't sure if the bravo bolted in or not but now I know...the alpha performance kit with all the shafts are deff worth the money for 1500 bucks plus it will hold up to 650hp.
there write up on the 100 mph small block is a good write up

I have an Enforcer 230 (1992). I repowered it with a factory 496 Mag HO (425 HP) and stuck some big tabs on it. That easily got me to 73 on GPS but the chinewalking keeps me from going any faster.
Just another data point.
