Keep It Original or Dress It Up???
I have an '89 Checkmate in almost showroom condition.
My wife sees all these wild paint schemes on these other hi-performance boats and asks, "When are you gonna have something like that?"
Well honestly, I love the fact the boat is so clean for it's age, and in itself, it stands out on it's own without the flashy colors.
So I ask of you other Checkmate owners...
What would you do?
Stick to original?
Or spice it up to bring it up to date?

I would leave it the same. That has the exact same paint scheme as my 251 but with different colors. Mine is yellow where yours is white, and white where yours is red. My gel must have faded years ago and someone (the original owner I think) had it clear coated to bring back the shine. Well now the clear is faded and peeling so the boat needs painting. I plan on doing it this winter and staying with the same paint scheme with the addition of a few more black stripes along the side of the hull in the white portion to give it a little more character.
