I am putting money on adjustment.
I bet that he has one punk motor and one drive out of adjustment.
Drives that will go into forward but not reverse are not usually blown up.

Replace the shift cable from the control box back to the engine. It worked for about 5 hours then wouldn't go into reverse again. Adjusted it again and worked for another 5 hours. This time I tried to adjust it and it couldn't get it into reverse at all, even after disconnecting the canbles and trying to manually shift by pulling on the cable with the engines off. Goes into forward, but not reverse.
Both drives are brand new aftermarket SEI's. The starboard one sheared a shaft after 10 hours. SEI finally fied it after sending it back twice...didn't send me a new one...fixed the defective one after only about 10 hours total time on it. Wouldn't suprise me if there is something wrong internally on the port drive. I haven't been too impressed with the SEI drives so far.
Anyone know where they are actually manufactured? Not just assembled, but where the shafts are turned and the gears are cut. I am getting the impression that whoever is going the actual casting, machining and heat treatment is below par.

you can bet the parts are from over seas. sorry about your troubles i had heard good things about those drives. i had thought about useing them on my 260 after poping a drive. i ended up getting a few used alphas for spares.

SEI's are actually made here in the states. Parts are same as you would get from Merc but with a different name(or at least that's what I was told).
