I'm building a Chris cat also. I bought it with no engines but it has drives. I'm converting it to outboards to run the 400R. I'm also cutting it in half to widen the beam a foot. I have the speedmaster drives, #4, transmissions, extended gimble brackets, drive shafts and a few other odds and ends. I'm going to sell it all as a package.

I'm effraid when I'm done i have to go 400r route too... prefer inboards, but trend looks like ob are becoming more popular...
I sure think its easier to set up 400 r on a jack plate instead of having to find the right X dimension for a certain drive package, whatever it is on the inboard route... we'll see!
Let me know in fact how it goes to separated the deck i did not know they were glassed together... sure is more tricky than just unbolting behind the rubrail...
good luck and post plenty of pictures !
PLEASE !!!

How do you post photos?? I have the drives that will fit your boat. If you go to OB you have to change the angle of the transom, I'm almost positive. With OB I believe its 12 degrees. Right now we're cutting the screws or breaking them. The rub rail is off. The cockpit interior is out.

I doubt transom angle needs to be modified for outboard, but if so, good reason for me to stick to inboards!!! to post pictures you need to be a paying member. Send them to me ill post them for you! And for me!

You're right it doesn't have to be modified. I checked with my digital level. Its 12 degrees. I was just in the boat. Cutting the deck off from the inside would be very difficult and a lot of grinding or cutting. I'm going to cut it from the outside just below the deck joint. I have a cutter that will cut it like butter. I have to add to the hull side anyway. Unless you want to raise the deck a few inches, I wouldn't cut it off. There is also the issue of the cockpit being bonded to the hull. I'll send you photos of the drives and the boat.
