Default Having trouble putting gas in the fuel tank. Lots of splash back

Wow, putting gas in this boat is a real PITA. The pump rate must be super slow, or the nozzle splashes back. The small vent hose seems clear.

It took me 15 minutes to pump 40 gallons!!

Also, I have tried several different gas stations, and the problem seems to be the boat, not the pumps.

Any suggestions on how I can improve this?

Thanks!

add another vent to your tank or if possible make the one you already have bigger... good luck!

Well, I just discovered a solution by accident! I filled up the tank at a filling staition that has pumps with the older vapor recovery system that has an outer seal that seals up to the gas filler neck.

Once this seal is pressed over the opening, the gas pumps right in with no trouble.

I also verified that the vent hose works, both in AND out. It lets fumes out, and will let water in when making a sharp turn at lower speeds.

Had to pump out a bunch of water from the fuel tank after the starboard engine died due to water in the fuel!
