Hi I am Ron Luks, a new guy that posted a couple months ago, I finally went to FL and picked up the Cat. My first cat, had a Nova III with twin 350 mags that I hurt
last september, perfect excuse always wanted a ChrisCat, the guy that just bought the one with the big blocks, nice boat, I was thinking of buying that one too, but wanted outboards. I bought the 1986 cat with Pro Max's, this boat is nice too, can't wait for the snow to go away. I will need all the advice I can get, never owned outboards much less a cat. I am considering running the OPA races in Michigan this year.
I think I got a good deal also, $26,000.00 with a nice aluminum trailer, the hull is in great shape new interior last year, new paint 2 years ago. Was able to go on the water with the old owner, I was impressed. I will be changing the name to "GUNG HO" that is the name I have been using, you can tell I wasn't in the Navy.

Congrads Ron, Welcome to the SE Michigan group of felines. I have run up thru the St.Clair river many times past your homestead. With a little luck, maybe we will get to see each other. Luck being that I finish putting mine back together. Here's to great weather and safe boating in 2008. Richard

I really don't know, on the test rides in FLA we only ran about 70 to 75, I wasn't looking at the tachs, I am learning now that the Pro Maxs will turn 7000 to 7500 rpm, I know we were not at those rpms. I am having the lowers gone thru in FL to have them fresh for next year, so I need to call Strern Drive Service and find out what the ratios are. I know the previous owner had the boat for the last 13 years and never raced it, just poker runs, really wasn't a fast type guy, so the ratios are important right now, I have the two sets of props so I will get a better idea when I get the ratios.

Just got the gear ratios, 1.75, with the props on the boat, depending how hard I want to run the engine, rev limit at 6000, class 4 at 80 mph. rev limit at 6500, class 3 at 87 mph. If these motors can do 7500 rpm, if I want to run at 7000 it would be 94 mph.
