The two front boxes are insulated 5 ft ice/fish boxes, the one in the foreground was supposed to be covered by the console but it didn’t look right being that far forward. Would have been ok functionality but looked goofy. Decided to move the helm back 30” so the console would need to be stretched to cover the well that was making it a stand up console.

There was a lot of surplus Kevlar in the shop and it was used in the top cap and the console.
The mould for the console was picked up as scrap from yellowfin after one of their design updates. Same for the hardtop. So cutting the console to stretch is was a real pain. The stuff just kills saws. Before the hard top went on, I was moving it to a cooler location to shoot the last coat of gel and it blew out of the truck at about 60mph, rolled end over end twice then skidded upright off the road. I figured it was all cracked up but there was no structural damage whatsoever, just some frayed Kevlar along the bottom where the gel was scraped off by the road.

This boat was originally going to get 315 yanmars. Mastry in Tampa had what was some of last mechanically controlled new yanmars left and were part of an over shipment to Sweden. I had a deposit on them but began to worry they weren’t enough for this boat so I cancelled the order. But more power would mean a trans and there wasn’t room for an in-line (qsb 480) six and a Huber trans so I decided to marinize Duramax’s for the light weight and small footprint.
