Looks like a real sweet boat!
last summer we ran 100hrs in our 97 Gun with Merc 600SCs , one stock Bravo I and one XR drive, so she ate a drive or two prior to my purchase.
I think XRs are the ticket if you don't plan on turning up the wick in the near future.
Good luck!

Awesome looking boat! I almost purchased a similar boat, but the Bravos scared me away. Bravos are much lighter, faster, and more efficient than SSM's, but I didn't want to worry every time I ran the boat.
I would also be concerned with the B&M blowers. I think Holley bought them out years ago and now parts are NLA for these models. If you had a blower tear up, you may be forced to buy two new blowers. I suggest you research these "older" B & M units, to be sure parts are available.

I wouldn't worry much about the drives if your on a lake or river. Cigarette powered their bravo boats with Hawk 600's & 650's all the time when Barrie owned the company. If you're going to do any ocean running in rough water you might find something else. Still not that big a deal until close to 700hp if you service them as scheduled. Bravo's need to be rebuilt anyway after 70 hours or so, most just push it too long and blame the drive.

Thanks to everyone for the info. So... will XR's bolt up in place of the Bravo-1's? What does the XR offer that is not found in the Bravo-1? Also.. What is a "Leak Down" test and how is it performed? The motors are more recient from Cheif. Not sure how old yet. Theyt are supposed to have about 70 hrs.
