I've heard of running lights.....what are docking lights?

Lots of boats of that era had them- recessed lights up by the rubrail, just back from the bow.

Yeah, docking lights are the lights that the po po would pull you for if you went outside a marina with them on

I thought they were for crab pot bouys......so you use them when your backing into your slip
