Be careful when you mess with the drives on a Top Gun. Cigarette has spent allot of time making them perform perfect with the setup it came with. The usual problem with switching to box's, 5's, both and going to #6's is porpoising. Not really a big deal. Drop the tabs a touch, scrub off a couple MPH but after a certain speed 70-75 you can start taking them back up and then look out.
I was at lake x in 98 when they were testing that boat....beautiful, i have always liked the 90mph boats...

I have asked this question also and I think if I could get 10-12MPH I would consider doing this project. Dont forget the # these guys are talking about are staggerd boats. They are not apples to apples to what you are asking. To get a stright bottem side by side gun to run over 100 MPH is almost unheard of. And you also have have a full cabin.
If you run in the mid or upper 90 MPH range I think that is very respectable.
There are some production/cookie cutter boats out there that will run well over 100MPH with your power if speed is what you are looking for. What ever you decide keep us posted I will be very intrested in the final results and good luck.

To give you an idea, 3800 RPM is an honest 65 mph GPS in our side by side No. 6 Gun. The drives could be raised by removing the one inch spacer, if top speed is your primary goal. Figures I would pick up some trash in the speedo pitot tube the day we took the pics. 5000RPM puts you up around 85 mph.......and 5600 RPM at WOT is all relative :
