Few more updates:
BIG thanx to Mike TeeeCat for the use of his shop and help and Wild Thunder and a few other for breaking my 'pulling boat engine' cherry.
We fixed the oil leak (fingers crossed) and cleaned up the oil murder scene in the bilge.

Mike really has an awesome place to do work and every part/tool needed.
its good to have a skinny man on the team

Frank great information . I have not got my boat wet so prop testing has not yet begun. When I decided to put the 5 's on I did a lot of research and spoke alot with Phil Lipship the Cigarette guru . We discussed at great length drive height and notch vs extension box . That is how I ended up at 1 inch below , his opinion was that although many believe a 4 or 5 drive is a surface drive it does react the same as a 6 drive therefore direct comparesions are not valid. He was of the opinion that these drives were more akin to the 3/3a than a six . Given my horse power I agree too much prop could be trouble. I will be spinning out and it is a pleasure boat am prepared to give up some top end for planning and drivability. I will let you know how I make I am starting with a 25 pitch 4 blade (not sure of diameter will check) because that's what I have , it worked great on the old set up so who knows.
Dan as for the cav plates I am told they mimic the cav plate set up on the 6 drive which is suppose to aid planning . I'm told that because the 4/5 drive does trim as much as the six it helps getting the boat of the water . I will measure the dimension of mine and let you know , it is just an extension of the one inch spacer plate , simple really .

joe sorry it took so long to repost if you look at the upper and lower housing the front stud on the lower hits on the bell housing check to see if your trim rams retract in all the way if not the stud is hitting use a thin jam nut in place of the thicker lock nut and cut the stud off down to the nut lock tight the nut !!! that should give you an extra inch negative trim
