Joe installed all of the bearings and measured all the clearances for me with his dial bore gauge.... All I have to do is give the blocks one more final wash and start assembling! I might check my $100 bore gauge to see how accurate it is to Joe's $1,200 Bore gauge

Rod Clearance

Main Bearing Clearance

We did everything to these blocks! Line Hone and trued up all the main caps + Tighten the main cap registers, Square decked the blocks so the piston are all the same exact height in the block, Bored them to 4.530 with torque plates (Bores were held to two ten thousands of an inch!! .0002!!), Checked Lifter Bore Clearance, Taped all the bolt holes... etc etc!!

Few more pics of the blocks...

All wrapped up on the cart when Joe dropped them off

On the stands... Try to get them final cleaned tomorrow

Here is how Joe machined the blocks for the spray bar stands!

Checked my bore gauge against Joe's... Came up with the same bearing clearances!!

Mic the crank journal

Zero the bore gauge in the Mic. This sets the bore gauge to the same size as your crank journal

Insert the bore gauge in the bearing your checking

Same measurement Joe had!! .0035

Washed the blocks one last time, blew them dry with air and got them ready for paint.

Painted Blocks

Put the freeze plugs, galley plugs in and started assembling the short blocks.

A lot of work but should be well worth it. Like how the lesser priced gauge is just as accurate as the 1200.00 dollar one.

Short blocks are going together smoothly! Should have some pictures in a few days.

I have decided to dyno the engines. We are behind schedule and it will help get us back on track instead of taking time to tune the boat in the water.
