Default What's the best setup for 38-39 TG 2006-11 need help

Ok considering look at used TG.

Need some help with some questions.

1. Did the 39 replace the 38 in these years?
2. What is he best setup for this boat. I have seen 525 and a handful of 700's with nxt. What are the major differences in handling and performance between the 2 set ups?
3. What will I see with speeds in the 2 setups? What about cruise .
4. Most importantly what is the difference between the maintenance and hours I can expect before rebuilds?
5. What is the most popular to resell? And is there much difference in insurance?

Thanks for the help

The difference between a 38 and a 39 is about 100k. 38's are side by side and 39's are staggered.

im not an expert but ill chime in...

1. no the 39 unlimited did not replace the 38. it was introduced in 2005 as an additional model. cigarette has continued to build both to this day. as mentioned the 38 is non-staggered vs. unlimited is staggered. someone may correct me on the last part but ive never seen non-staggered 39's or staggered 38's.

2. i cant talk to specific performance of one over the other in terms of 525 vs 700. the obvious response is 700's will be much faster than the 525 package. add the surface nxt's and you gain a lot more performance. in terms of staggered vs non-staggered is just like any other boat. better cog, handling in a staggered setup.

3. buddy's 525 t/s top speed is around 84-86 consistently. says he hit 88 once with the usual perfect conditions (wind at the back, with current, 1' short chop, no fuel, no passengers, etc). id venture the top speed of 700's with nxt's is right around 100-105. in terms of cruise...id say 525's is high 50's low 60's and 700's is well into the 70's.

4. 525 being naturally aspirated...i have 500 efis and am told 200 hr's on spring and 500 on top ends. 700's i have no idea on maintenance schedule.

7. the most popular for resale would prob be the 525's given the sticker price will be lower and reliability is better. both aspects means there are more buyers. in terms of insurance the 700's will be more. both because of speed and the 700's are worth more.

hope this somewhat helps.
