Mild,
I'm in full agreement here. We'll see how she runs, doesn't take much effort to pop a few carbs off and put dominators on. Just need the $4K+ that I spent on these to buy new dominators, $8K in carbs alone kinda adds up....

that too.....
Many times these projects take a few unforeseen or unplanned forks in the road. At some point you have to quit making changes and finish the damn thing. I could keep on buying new and bigger parts and pieces, but enough is enough with this thing, time to go boating in 2015. I can always tweak the thing later.

My 540's had 850 Holleys on them. They Dyno'd 675HP at 5400. We put 950 Carbs on it, and it only made 10HP more, and less torque. Also played with carb spacers. Since we had the 850's, I didn't feel it was worth getting the 950's for 10HP. Real life application you would never know the difference.

Carb Spacer helped better then then the bigger Carb, however I couldn't shut the hatch with the flame arresstors that I had, so the spacers came out. Have to compromise sometimes. Not like 1-2 miles an hour either way was going to be a huge difference in a straight bottom, super heavy boat. Best I ever saw with the Short Konrads was 78. I could have worked the props and made 80, but I sold the boat. With the wheels I had I was only spinning the props to 5200- I should have worked them and spun them to 5450 if I kept the boat.

Gotta watch the old 950 Holley's. They didn't flow near 950cfm. The ultra ones are a different story. The old 950 HP's were 750 bodies .
