Default 41 Attack

Hello, I'm new to OSO and this forum. I just finalized the purchase of the black and white 41 Attack that had been in Ventura for years. I read through the various posts about this boat and agree, there is a lot of bulkhead and strengthening in areas that will need to be completed first. I will be updating the cabin as well as lowering the floor 3", so my 6'1" frame can stand up straight. The plan is to go with TAMD 72's with 450hp. They're several hundred pounds lighter than the CAT's with more hp.
Now I have to sell my current boat, brand known in mid-west, an Envision 32' Illusion. Wish me luck with both, please!
David

Where's it going?

The old owner contacted me a couple times when he had it running. Saw it out and about a few times. Big boat! Looking forward to seeing your progress.

It's going to stay in SoCal, not sure where yet. Somewhere between San Diego and San Pedro. Did it look good on the water?
Thanks

I've never seen a Cig look bad on the water, just some better than others.

I have started on the structural repairs/reinforcements. I felt the best way to overcome the stress cracks in some areas was to add a bulkhead in an area I'm surprised Cigarette didn't place one...basically half way between cabin entry and bulkhead between sitting area and v-berth. There were raised fiberglass bulkheads running fore to aft that were about 6' long visible on top of forward deck. This was in the same area that I mentioned was in need of structural help. I have attached some pictures showing removal of fiberglass bulkheads and the fabrication of bulkheads that have been put in place running fore to aft and connecting to new side to side bulkhead reinforcing the area that was the 'weak link'. The top deck now will be without these protruded fiberglass 'bumps' that really took away from some nice smooth lines.

Default 41 Attack project

I meant to attach the picture of the fiberglass bulkheads that protruded on deck. The picture shows them cut, but still place. Ugly!

The additional hatch cutout is complete, it was interesting to find they used a foam core on deck...maybe this is typical for Cigarettes? Any stress crack areas on deck, there were numerous, were ground out and refilled with cloth and resin fill. The underside areas, mostly the whole length of gunnels, were ground to roughen surface then re-inforced with biaxial matt. All fiberglass repairs on deck are now complete and the first primer coat applied. A few pics are attached.

Looks like a nice project. Look forward to seeing it out on the water some time. A bunch of us run out of Dana Point quite often.

I knew a guy many years ago that had a 32 Envision. Is this yours now? Don't think there are too many of them on the west coast.
