Newbie Top Gun owner question.
Hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question but it involves gaining access to walking on deck to throw and set anchor, etc...
I noticed on the newer TG's the door has "steps" built into it that I'm assuming one can step on to walk up onto the deck. My TG (a 2002) has a rounded smooth door which eliminates that as an option to do so. My previous boat (Sonic) had a convenient catawalk around the boat. Previous to that my Baja had step also molded into the cockpit used to climb onto the deck. So how does one get to the deck from the cockpit when anchoring for a swim in a cove for example? Am I missing something?
Thanks.
Steve-

The all TG port consoles have a half round step built in so you could hoist yourself up. Not great but it works. Other than that its out the hatch which is a pain if you ask me...

We use the bolster as a step, onto the pass dash and over onto the deck. I came from a Sonic (31) as well and miss the walk around for that and mostly for putting the cockpit cover on. But its worth it!

I always send anchor over side and pass anchor line to some one on deck to tie off. Or walk it up. Favorite thing is to have buddy already anchored and raft off!!! We are trying to talk glassdave (OSO) to make steps. He has three top guns waiting.

Thanks for all the quick responses. At first there I thought I must be missing something. So Glassdave is making new fg doors for older TG models so they they will have the steps like newer models. Where is he located? My boat is in LOTO.

Just "searched" his name. 20 pages worth. He's obviously the man!

Glass Dave is in Michigan, look him up in the fiberglass section. He currently does new style dash caps to older guns. He has mentioned that he is working on copying the step door but it's a huge project. Told him if he builds them, they will sell.

Ive always launched the anchor from the side too on previous boats, its convienent to keep one hand on the line and the other on the gear lever to feel it fetch up.. My Cafe has Pigeon holes in the PT side console like what Cig3 spoke of. You can buy these and install with relitive ease if your crafty..
