Default A little note about the SCOPE Poker Run

Re: SCOPE Poker Run Aug 27-29 ... This is a post I put on another thread

The water was flat Saturday ... it took away some of my advantage

I was banging full throttle all the way after I got myself together and found some clear water. I had a bad position for the start .. with my high X and the washing machine water ... made for a hard time getting on plane. After about 4-5 miles ... it was ON ... one by one ... mostly running around 85 ... hit 88

The Virgin Top Gun and the blue/white Gladiator had clean starts ... they were the only small power / Bravo boats that beat me to Avalon ... I think I was in the first 10-12 boats there and all the rest were BIG power BIG drive boats. It was the fastest run to Catalina I've ever made.

I have to give the Cigs their props ... they had to have at least 10 of the first 20 boats to Avalon ... I know for sure there was (not in any particular order):

Blue/White Gladiator (525efi/Bravo)
Yellow Virgin T/S Top Gun (500hp?/Bravo)
Tiger w/ Bob Teague (BIG power/#6)
Oh Beehave Tiger (BIG power/#6)
Illusion Tiger (American Flag) (BIG power/#6)
Flamed Top Gun Running w/ the Devil (BIG power/#6)
T/S Top Gun / Havasu Cig (500efi/Bravo)
Red/White Gladiator- BG1 (500efi/Bravo)
All white T/S Top Gun (500efi/Bravo)
Blue/White T/S Top Gun, your truly (525efi/Bravo)

Remember ... It's not how fast you can go ... it's how long can you go fast

Let's Do It Again !!!!

Cigarette was out in force for the poker run! Talk all the sh!t you want to about world speed records and this and that but when it comes down to real world running it comes down to the facts Gary listed. We were with in the first 10 boats to Catalina on a Tiger, I looked around and saw at least four other Cigs there w/us.

I agree w/you G. It's not how fast you can run but how long you can run fast. I was watching the Tiger bang the rev limiters everytime we launched at 90+. Great freakin ride!!! I'm still def in my left ear from those 1000s!

I didn't mean to dis' OL and Fountain ... there was an OL that got there, I believe, either 2nd or 3rd and I think the purple & yellow fountain w/ big power was there when I arrived.

You weren't.....I was! I was refering to the comments about why dosesn't Cig get into the "Worlds fastest v-bottom" arena. And again, this just proves they don't need to.

But it's all good. Everyone had fun, all the boats looked great but it was nice to see Cig out in force!

At the card boat in Avalon ther were seven Cig's all in a line waiting to get their cards with Bob Teague in the lead. I wish I would have taken a picture.

Tank is right about real world running. I passed alot of Fountains but was not passed by any and the water was relatively calm. If it was bigger it would have been even better.

The first boat to the Island was a 43 Scarab stepped bottom with big power. I think it suprised a frew people, mostly the cats.

Hey Chris, I don't know if it was the first boat to Catalina but Bobbit said he was running 130 with the other 40 Skater and looked over his right shoulder to see the Scarab boogying right along next to him!! Bobbit was laughing. Though his skater was at like half throttles!

Your boat was looking SICK Chris! Like I told you before, nice to see your "85mph" Cig beat all those "100+mph" boats!

Thanks bro, like gary said it's not how fast you can go but how long you can go fast.

I am not really a big Scarab fan but that 43 was a nice boat. He started that thing up in front of hotel on Sunday morning and it sounded pretty healthy. I wonder what it had in it for power???
