I have searched this forum high and low and still need drive advice.
I don't want to go with #6s in place of my stock Bravos,do I need torsion bar shafts? Will extension box's change my great ride? Can my Bravos be beefed up and live? Konrads? Anybody have a similar set up that doesn't eat drives?
The existing set up planes right out ,nets us 82.5 GPS mph if it's choppy enough and and rides great.
We have a serious oil temp problem especially on our Starboard motor after a few minutes between 4000 and 5400rpms.So in as much as the motors need to be pulled we decided to bump them up a bit, other wise I wouldn't mess with a good combo!
Any drive advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance! Glen

Re: 97 Kevlar Top Gun build Up!
My 97 Kevlar Gun is the third one pictured on the lift at the beginning of this thread. I will agree that this is one of the best built boats I have seen. The detail, finish, fit are excellent. The 600's were strong. A bad bearing in one blower ate the rings out of my port engine. Only 214 hours. Both engines are both being bored to 540's and will be pushing + 700 hp: new JE pistons, rods, crank, jesel rocker assemblies and 671 blowers. I trotted a solid 77.6 with the 600 SC's Hawks using 15.5 x 28 4 bladed bravo props.
At least new 30 pitch props in my future. The boat is currently at TNT. The engines are being done by WESCO. TNT refreshed the drives a year ago. Now TNT is dropping the lowers and having them beefed for the additional HP. Need something done right? Go to the people who know. Don't have somebody who works on lawn mower engines for boat make decisions what to do with your big blocks.
When I was looking for props for my cat with twin 1000's they calculated what I needed. They had a used extra set. Perfect slip, perfect rpms's, speed etc.
The $$$ spent for expertise pays off many times over in lack of downtime and guess work.
