That second pic is how I remember "offshore racing"!!! Balls to the wall, wide open throttle and sunburned propellers!!! Very cool pic!
Thanks B16!

Are there any Scarab fans around still?
Hi, Here is a picture of the newly acquired "PHANTOM" 1986 30' Wellcraft Scarab Panther with TRS Drives and the 330 hp 454's.
I was so fortunate to purchase it from the original owner, It has been stored inside from 1986 through present and casually used with under 300 hours on it..

Included all of the svc document from new, all original tags, books and hanging paper warnings that came on it at delivery.
The Decals, stripes and interior are 100% original(and like new) !
It has been very extensively maintained until about 3 years ago as it has been untouched, so it needs batteries, carbs rebuilt ,fuel replacement, gaskets ,etc

One of my early powerboats in Australia, I bought it in 1981. Only small but it was a consistent performer offshore in the 85 hp class. Peter Bradley 'Minx' 16'. I also owned a 12' PB Minx which raced with a 25 on the back!

Great hull, engine rigged by Eric 'The Outboard Gorilla' Barrow and although it only did high 40's, it would beat many faster boats because it could handle any water. Reminds me a little of a baby cig/magnum design or even a Donzi 16. This was the boat that taught me how to drive in the rough, I'd buy it back today if I new where it was.

Mine circa 1985:

Per the website and the original owner, it was the first custom built Progression, as well as the brochure boat. The photos from the brochure shoot were taken prior to the bolster supports and railing being fit.

As it looks today:

Updates include: later model engine, removal of the woodwork in favor of black trim in the cabin, Stainless Marine swim platform bracket, K-planes, and framed windshield.
