Default Birth of Mona Lou

This is just an example of the amount of stuff still to be scanned and posted on HORBA.

When all of the talk about Mona Lou started, I remembered that we had some photos in the files yet to be opened.....after much digging around, here is a sampling....enjoy.

Fantastic pics Charlie!
According to Crouse on Searace, the first name of the boat was Thunderbird because the owner of it was Merrik Lewis chairman of the board of the Thunderbird yards those years.
In 1967 Mr.K. bought the boat and it became Mona Lou II for Odell Lewis and Mel Riggs.

I would like to know more about the project(Wynne/Walters),the building and the Aluminium Company (Al.Co.) that built it.

The photos concern the construction and the preparation than at least two different Maritime 32.' You beware the "bubble" deck of the fourth photo of that "cutted" of the Thunderbird in the fifth photo. The boat with the "bubble" deck is the first Maritime 32' of Wynne in 1965, then become Big Broad Jumper.

Charles
Those are great pictures! Wow I didn't think those kind of pictures would still be around, that was 42 years ago!
I think that Marco might be right on the decks being different, I noticed it on the pics from Mona Luo 11 and maritime. The 11 or thunderbird has flat side from the rear of the cockpit that tappers down at the nose. The maritime has more of a rounded deck starting from the front of the cockpit. So you do have a finish picture of Jim Wynnes maritime and the thunderbird. Awesome pics and glad to see the different pictures!

Charlie, Just the beautiful photos that you have posted make us to see the differences of the two decks, allowing us to recognize the first Maritime 32' (Maritime) of the 1965 from the second (Thunderbird)of 1966.
