Christian, at the end of the '73 season, Doc Magoon wanted to retire. But he still wanted to break the NY record. When Charles Gill picked up the boat, we were rigging this boat in my shop----

All very interesting Gene, thank you. It seems strange that both the 36' and the 40' ended up over here, I can see why Dixford wanted the 40' now.

Secondly, it was one of the few days it didn’t rain in the UK!!!

I tried to find a pic of that 'trademark wind shield'----this poor quality 8mm was taken Nassau 75?? Even without that wind shield, Mike has done a fantastic job on a piece of history. My regards to Mike---ask him if he remembers a late night departure out of Lake X----many years ago---

Mike has been out of town for a few days visiting his son in LA. He gets back here next week, so I'll no doubt end up going for a beer with him. I'll be sure to pass on your regards and ask about LakeX.....what I would have given to gone there! I got talking to Billy Martin Jr last year about when his Dad was testing up there, really interesting.

For me the 35 didn't look so good with the wind shield. Bonomi's 36 looked like a $1M with it.

That sure is a Great Looking Old School Race Boat. Love all the sharp angles! Does she have two bow docking lights, looks that way. What was the power and drive line set up? That thing is a Killer wave crusher to say the least.

Redman, any chance of the 1975 8mm Nassau footage being uploaded somewhere? Would love to see that!
