They will fit. If the merc trannies work and you can appreciate and run the boat stock they will work OK. I would leave them.

Merc trans work good with small blocks, Cig 28's run better with less weight and the borg warners push the cg forward. The models with the D or e? were built for big blocks and seem tougher. upgrading to a bravo will lighten the boat ,move the cg back and you could raise the X dimension.

I am going through the retro fit as we speak on a 1973 28ss cig. If you need trans, lowers or speed rives just let me know.

Thanks, Jay Dunavent-Oklahoma

I was involved with rerigging and racing (throttle man) Miss Cigarette back in 1996-97. The 406cu.in. small blocks put out 425HP and 400+ Ft.Lbs. torque all day. I ran the boat very hard and never had issues with the merc trans. I did run Amsoil ATF in them with the standard cooler.

The current owner Greg Zatco runs it with 383's at about the same HP and still hasn't had a trans problem.

I told tim champion spark plugs suck. Those trans came out of a sunk and burned velocity and I never rebuilt them. Any current pics of miss cigarette?
