Some old photos

What the americans need is a platform for putting their shots online collectively. HORBA have done a tremendous job in doing that so far, but what about all those amateur shots out there? The Boatmad site is fantastic for having the 'library' section, where all and sundry can go and browse through 100's of pics in one location. It just takes a huge amount of time to put it all together.
I thought I had a lot of photo's until I saw Graham's library!

Priceb, you might be thinking of Stefan Shampoo, which was a new ( then) 36 built by Riviera using a mould off American Eagle. That Riv built boat burnt in New Zealand.

The boat you are talking about ( I think ) is the boat that Tom and I raced in Australia, we went down to qualify for the worlds, We raced the Mercury Trophy race in Port Saint Philip bay in Melbourne. One of the coldest roughest races I have ever run, seas in the bay were 8 to 12 ft. wind blowing 40 mph, took us almost 4 hours to go 80 miles, that`s the race where the 44` Longshot???????? Peter Deans old boat, stuffed and broke in half. We sold that boat to a boat Mfg. named John Haines, he built Haines Hunter powerboats. The boat we sold had bottom damage from the race, and was in pretty bad shape, and Tom gave Okay to copy and build boats from. This particular boat was not a Cigarette, it was Toms own design built by ( I think) Rudy Ramos of Rayson Craft boats. Tom built a very big flat pad on the keel, which did`nt work, until we attached an alum. V to make it more like a Cigarette Bottom. The famous 35` Cig American Eagle that I built and won the UIM worlds in 1976 is supposedly in Panama as a Panama Hawk. I did hear that Haines Hunter boat co. did have a fire, and is possible those molds were lost.

Hi Marco: Yes it was the original Allen Alweis sr. 35` Cig named Conspiracy, rigged and throttled by Stuteville, was later sold to Joe Weishelbaum, and named Mighty Mouse. Tom bought it to attend and qualify for UIM worlds in Australia. We ran the first race in Sydney, broke a u-joint at the start which broke the gimble, and forced us out of the race, allmost sunk. We stayed in Australia and New Zealand with intentions of running the other two races, unfortunatly Tom was going through marital problems with then wife Nora, and never showed up for the races. The boat was sent to Calif. shop, then to Hawaii, as a test boat for Tom, Last I saw the boat was in Calif. still same colors etc. I think Billy Dunsmoore is taking care of it. There was pictures etc. on previous threads, just not sure where, I wrote a lot about the cig`s. in those threads.

Priceb, the Stefan Riviera boat was built in about 1987 or so to replace the by now ageing ex American Eagle. Riviera also built a 36 for Bill Barry Cotter to run ( Bill's first offshore race boat) in about 1989.
