Bit of trivia..don't know if this is the appropriate thread so mods please feel free to move.
Aronow had 2 ( at least!) "The Cigarette"s, powered by twin Mercruisers. One of them was bought by Australians Val and Paul Carr in about 1970 or 1971, and came to race here. I think the other went on to be a "Black Tornado".
Tragically, both Val and Paul were killed in about 1972, when the boat spun in a race off Sydney and threw them out.
Subsequently, the boat was bought by Arnold Glass who ran it for a year or so before buying the candy striped "American Eagle" ( the 36 Cigarette).
The Cigarette was then sold to Norm Jenkin and disappeared. I hope it is sitting in a shed somewhere but I fear it may be long gone..

What a tragedy. Another priceless piece of history gone. Mind you, the boat was regarded as "jinxed" after it threw out the Carrs. Arnold Glass picked it up for a song in 1973 at the auction...

Actually......HORBA has been tracking it and we have some reliable information that the boat was seen within the last year. The hunt continues.
