Question Anyone have pics of 1979 Benihana 38' Cigarette flat deck #25?

Also posted in Cigarette section ... Looking for pics of Rocki Aoki's 38' Cigarette flatdeck #25 Benihana. The boat is 1979 so pics I guess would be in 1979 ---> early 80's era. Charlie or anyone else have any? Much appreciate any assistance.

NJ,
The boat your talking of is a 35', formally raced as "Spirit". I've got pics someplace-it may take time to find them...

FS, the boat we have is def a 1979 38' Cig and HIN supposedly confirms info mentioned above I want to see pics myself. The gelcoat, under the butchered paint job, is mustard yellow and we can see a faint #25 ((?? I think)) in a circle on the deck ...

NJ,
Rocky's first open class boat was Hal Shalman's old 35' Cigarette "Spirit". It retained the #4 when Rocky raced it. (I just checked my old photo album)
This is also the same boat that Charlie McCarthy is restoring. You can see pics on Carlies website.
Rocky then raced a 38 Bertram #5. This boat was white/yellow. Hope this helps

First of all, the 37.6 Cigarette was first introduced to the world in Argentina in Decembere of 1978. It was Ajac Hawk owned and driven by Jerry Jacoby and throttled by Bobby Saccenti. I was there and remember the unwrapping of the boat in Mar del Plata.

This boat size later became known as the Cigarette Top Gun or 38 Cigarette. But in 1979 there was no such thing as a 38 Cigarette.

In 1979 Rocky was racing either his Cougar Cat or his Bertram. The Cigarette that he did run was, as is stated above, the old Spirit. It is a 35 foot boat that was originally built as Don Aronow's last race boat and registered under his number # 4.

I have that boat now and am in the midst of a long drawn out restoration.

I remember two 37.5 ft Cigarette race boats from that era that were yellow in color.Could it be "Fast Company"(yellow and blue) #23.That boat was out of Florida."Rated X" (yellow and brown)#37 was from New Jersey. There were others, but I dont remember them being yellow.Let us know what you find out.Any thoughts of racing the boat once its finished. It would make a great OPA Class 4 boat. You would get to run against "Bounty Hunter"...and once in a while, the old "Slapshot"..which is now "Dirty Pearl".

1waterboy1 .. those are 2 possibilities And yes, trying to convince partner to race it everyday.

Spoke to Charlie today (Thanks Charlie!) the HIN # is a 1979 CRT 37.6 boat #003. He is going to ask around and see what he can find out. There can't be too many to chose from, so hopefully we can figure it out

Here's some pics I hosted. First few with white, red, blue hockey stick graphics are as it was when purchased in Feb '08. Then the mustard yellow shots are after sanded down .. then finally, the way it looks today with "Bad Moves" paint scheme.

Click link below. The pics will enlarge if you click each of them. Thanks everyone for your help and information! http://www.lasassaracing.com/pictures_images

Wouldn't be the ex "Limit Up" would it? Mike Doxford did run a 37.5 Cigarette in 1979 and it was mustard yellow. Ran under #77 though, not #25.

Just a thought...
