Lance Ruble was a Drywall contractor from Hollywood Florida. He used to race a boat called "Manta", a 28' Manta rigged w/ 3 2.4's. That boat is now called "Blackjack" and is owned by Marshall Ives. Marshall is planning on getting the boat back together and racing soon.
I hooked your seller up with the guy who had the ACR Chris Cat at the time. A "Z" car dealer in Chicago(a real scum-bag by the way who jerked us all around). A lot of money went into the boat.... and your purchase price of 3200 was a great deal.
My old friend, the late Dick Genth, made the deal with Lance to race the Chris Cat instead of other boats that were available to him at that time. Lance was a fanatic about the boat's weight, returning it 3 times until CC got it right. Lance was close with the guys at ACR who had a warehouse around the corner from his shop. ACR also had a partial sponsorship of his Manta and we at OPBRA had a contingency agreement with all racers who displayed ACR logos on their boats. ACR was very supportive in those days... a great company with an amazing legacy.
