Does anyone know anything about the early 1970's Cigarettes with the twin 6 cylinder engines? How many years they were made? How many were made total? What lengths they came in? And mostly, why would they make a cigarette with twin 6 cylinder engines at a time when they were putting V8's into them? Were they for a small segment of buyers that needed less power? Were they meant to be a low-end boat that the everyday working man could afford? Also, if anyone has any brochures/documents about them to pm, that would be great.

The 28' Open Fisherman (George Bush had one) boat had twin 6 cyl 165 horepower engines. I don't remember the larger boats having them? I think the fishing boat topped out in the 40-45 mph range. You have to remember, this was a "new concept" back then-a fast fishing boat. Slow by today's standards.

WOW!!!

I know this is a very small market - but I have a 1977 Browning Mustang II TriHull that has a 165hp Mercruiser- I'm guessing pre Alpha I drive. The boat is pristine -- It has 660 hours. The only items that have been changed has been a starter, hydraulic pump (under warranty), carpeting and two years ago finally replaced the aluminum prop. Trailer is an EZ Loader with the original tires

The boat has been at our summer home and when not in use in the garage- under cover

I'm asking $3800.00 for it

They made great torque and could run a more narrow centerline for the 28 open. Made nice room for side access. 40-45 mph back then for a fishing/pleasure boat was pretty impressive.

My buddy's Cig came that way. He then swapped them out with a single 496.

As the photo shows they used them in the 28's and the 24's.

Never used them in the 35 or 41 of that era. The 41 came with diesels and Speedmaster drives.

Hi Rob, it was a 250ci GM engine. I fitted a tuned pair int a Magnum 28 in Circa 1970 Made a lot of noise, needed to be no more that 500ci total to be in race class.

The tuning parts came from Clifford Research in Cost Mesa California. Their slogan was 6 = 8 well, may be!.

But not a lot beats cubes or forced induction in my book
