Pete this Mag was never had a staggered engine set up, It had Volvo drives originally than set up as a twin Trs boat... With that said the running surface of a 29' Mirage that could be had with a stagger set up is not really any different than a Magnum 27', it would be interesting. Here are some pic's of [ Top prop] Joe staggered 29' Mirage. With all the work & $$$$ involved to make a staggered boat one big single I think would make more sense.

Help us to understand ......why staggered lightweight big blocks ...which I presume means aluminum Dart blocks?
I believe Mange's Arrow 27 achieved 100+ mph with his supercharged single BBC , with a ventilated pad.....

Was this the red magnum in ohio that was left out under the power lines along the tree line? Pictures of it were around from GoogleEarth?

Are there any other Staggered 27' Magnums? I don't recall ever seeing one. a good stout single would certainly fly better. A staggered boat would be an Awesome Project, But is there really an advantage with all todays technology..

All interesting questions. Let me put it into prospective in order of my madness. First off I have a brand new Mercruiser four thousand dollar bravo stagger kit. Then I have a soft spot for staggered configurations as this setup fits the boat to my measurements and design. The engines will sit lower into the hull as I have a bad taste of raised engine hatch's on the magnums, With launch and lift the props will stay hooked up more consistent closer and deeper to the vee, Having the big blocks and stagger kit already, I will have more room to work on engines and will not have to cut into the rear deck area with width problems, I am bringing the flat hatch right up to the back of the three man low profile bolster seat with floor mod. I am aiming for the look of Andy's Mag without the raised hatch and with the hatch meeting the rear of the bolster seat. The only challenge I have and I love challenges is the balance must be perfect and I am designing the gas tank placement as I write this. It has beautiful forward duel tanks that I must abandon to bring the fuel a little closer to the stern due to stagger forward weight. This is also a challenge because of the floor mod so I will loose a little benefit of the stagger by putting the custom made tanks and fuel weight closer to the hull sides. Two to three years out of the factory this boat became a race boat and bringing this boat back to a back seat banger with a lexan windshield would not fit it's blood line or mine. In my opinion most of these boats where original in there own way of the day and they should be restored close to their blood line if that's your thing. Some guys are out to make a buck and some are out to make a little eye candy and keep their blood flowing. Both keep us breathing.

Sound like a bad hunting show. I have kept tabs on this boat since it left Huffmans stable and never recalled it being a mushroom green house. From the tear out it is pretty dry and straight.

I built a 90 mph single 27 Nordic Heat with air pump and large bottles on NOS and I always kept a full charge on my cell phone. I have thought about another 540 single but I already have the product to do this program and the cost of mellower twins is not much more if not the same with an extra prop to get back to the dock.
