Sweet, one's never going to stop being inspired by the legacy Betty Cook left behind. I treasure every footage from an interview or article written I find about her life. Thanks for highlighting her memory. Photos courtesy of among others; Mike Mantle & Nigel Barrett.

When it was announced that she was coming to Cowes to race back in '78 it was big news. She didn't rate her chances, racing in a pretty old widebody 36 - but we all know how it ended. What a legend!

I've got her s.s. number, and it says she was born in Texas. She grew up in New York as most of you know though.

Among other things she was dancing ballet as a child and well into her adolescence. She was a remarkable student

and met her husband-to-be, Paul Cook, while at M.I.T.
