Believe it or not that's all most states require. I've seen that same request here in Connecticut where I am.

I know it seem & sounds flimsy, but apparently that's all the DMV in most states require.

Just clean the area really well where the number is stamped, place a clear white piece of printer paper over it, and then run a pen over the entire area transferring the number onto the paper.

If it were me, I'd also take a really good close up pic of the number and convert the pic into a pdf, or place it within a PowerPoint slide. There's tons of APP's you can download onto your phone that can covert pics to pdf's, I use "Cam Scanner".

Then I'd place a word text in the pdf (or PowerPoint slide) above the picture stating that this is the HIN number to my: (enter the year, make, and model of the boat)

Then I would save it, print it out, and give all of that to your local DMV (along with the pen transfer) when you go to register the boat.

You should probably also bring the bill of sale and whatever else you have so that you're not running back & forth from your house to the DMV because they're asking for this, that, and the other.

Good luck with it.......

I hope your project is going well. I still have the 1987 IMP 255 with 454 Mags I have no time to use it in the last 15 years so I would like to sell it.

Hey Vice, did you get that bad boy ready for summer '22 ? I just snagged one as well and was hoping to compare notes with other "Eleganza" owners.

Default Elaganza

What engines do you have in the Eleganza that you recently purchased? Have you had it on the water yet?

Mine has the twin 350s. Im in Canada and its been pretty chilly recently so no water test yet. Just going through it checking it over. Changed water pumps yesterday in preparation to water test. Engines run good on the hose.
By the way, did your boat come from the factory with Big blocks and Alphas?

My boat did come from factory stock with 454 big blocks and alpha out drives. Portside unit is counter rotation.
With 90 gallons of fuel on and the weight of the engines it is heavy in the back. I have had issue with the prop cavitation. So I had prop shop cup the props and which improved the hole shot tremendously. Slowed the boat down 4 or 5 MPH. I am sure there are better prop options these days.
I am the second owner. First owner bought the boat for his wife as an anniversary present! They never really felt save in the boat so they used it very little and it has low hours. I have a total of 398 hours on it now and I have owned it 15 years.
Everything is original on it. I seldom have time to use it. I prefer water skiing rather than just cruising. The boat is easy to load and unload so makes for easy transport.
If you ever decide to go a little larger engine displacement, let me know. I actually live not far from where the old IMP factory. Kansas is wonderful place to be.

I think it was 60 or 65 MPH. I took a picture of the speedo and can't find it now. As for pictures of the boat, ye I have but I can't seem to be able to put on this forum as I do not have enough posts? I do not navigate well on these posting things. But maybe I can figure out a way to send pictures. It is black on bottom and white on top side and interior is with red and black stripes. Original interior and no tears. I always keep my boats on trailers and inside.

So the original owner of mine was talking just under 70 with the smallblocks, and I took that with a grain of salt. I am hoping to see 60 but it will likely be a 55mph boat with a typical load. I sent you a PM with my email address so you can send pictures of my boats twin brother lol!
