So here's what's going on with the motors we're going to use the existing cranks and rods, both motors still have amazing hash marks in all cylinders unfortunately Both blocks cracked in the same spot which I've never seen, found 2 445 casting # blocks by luck which is what came out of it. I'm looking for any info on piston, cam, lifter set ups for this motor ring clearance for boost ect... not out to break records but I'd like to see a true 75-80 mph somewhat reliably. It will be going back 100% as it was when it was built from fountain. Thanks in advance for all the help and comments.

Also all three boats tested maxed out at 80 mph

Old boats are not like old cars. 99.9% would rather the boat be updated with more current technology than be period correct. No one cares the least bit about original block casting #s or having the exact camshaft or compression numbers in the boating world.
I would build some nice roller cam motors, would probably stroke them if cranks are needed anyway. Put on a good set of heads and up the compresion ratio to 8-8.5 to 1. The more power the engine makes N/A the more power it will make under boost.

I don't disagree at all I would definitely like to get compression up to 8.5 to1 if it needs cranks I will be installing callies cranks, had good luck with them in all my jet boats. As far as top end goes its getting all new everything. Will be posting a complete parts list once I get it sorted out. If I can make a easy 525hp on 5lbs I'd be happy.

Just saw this thread in the fountain forum. This boat belonged to a friend of mine who was a fountain dealer. I believe he sold the boat in the late 90's not sure of dates. All while he had it it was stored in a boat warehouse when not in use. The first years of ownership were slim use due to engines melting pistons.when I was asked to help, it required 2 heads one new block and all new pistons. I sent the turbos back to gale banks for reconditioning, I used a new bow tie block for the bad one. There never was a pyrometer gage in the boat so we installed one. He wanted to keep everything stock so we stuck to original specs. Both engines were dynoed wet ( what a mess). Keeping the exhaust temps inline solved the piston melting problem. I'm sorry I can't remember more specifics but it was long ago. A gentleman from Texas ended up buying the boat.

Good article here on the resto of the first Fountain 10 Meter Executioner. It belongs to Reggie Fountain and originally also had the Gale Banks Turbo engines.
