DR, are you trying to get your post count up..LOL...... :-)
I understood the 525's are rated at the prop. I believe that would put the hp aprox 550 or so.

If you wanna prove to us all it will run 80, take a video in the boat with a GPS reading as your running. I understand it will have to wait till spring. But if you do that, I'll FWD it to my cousin and tell him somthing is wrong with his...!!..LOL....That should get him going.....Haaaa......

Might I add a comment.
First Scenario:
I had a 2002 Gladiator that ran 89.5 on GPS
Over the years they had 525 Gladiators that ran the same speed, no more.
Two other sets of 525's were put in the same boat and the boat never ran any faster.
Conclusion- That was one strong set of 500's.
Second Scenario:
39 Cig Unlimited with 600's and "worked props" runs 100.
39 Cig Unlimited with 700's runs 105mph.
I was not a believer until I ran the 700 boat next to the 600 boat and could not walk him.
Mercury Dyno's all their motors and some have more hp than others, thats life.
My conclusion is over the years I have seen it all, bad rigging, strong motors, weak motors, mis marked props, drives mounted crooked, drives mounted at different heights, brand new hooked bottom boats, etc.
If the GPS says the number and the driver has a picture I believe it because there are too many instances where we have scratched our heads.
How many people take two sets of motors out of two boats that run different speeds and dyno them to find the answer, none because it is too costly.
Botton line, while there are boats of the same manufacturer that appear to be the same, there are no two boats that are really the same.
BTW, LOOK AT A SPEEDO FROM STRAIGHT AHEAD. THEN MOVE YOUR HEAD A LITTLE TO THE RIGHT. THEN MOVE YOUR HEAD A LITTLE TO THE LEFT. ITS AMAZING HOW A BOAT CAN PICK UP AND LOSE SPEED BY A LITTLE HEAD MOVEMENT!!
I am not suggsting that anyone is telling tales, I am suggesting that there are a lot of variables and everything is subjective. I bet no two GPS speeds read the same!!
Lets move on and start this thread in the new Cobalt owners Forum.
