thats always the question when you do a project.
Factor in the satisfaction of doing things sucessfully sharing your projects with people who may not to be able to afford to just run out and buy something and also building something that you may consider to be a better mouse trap has value to me.
Lets face it if we were being paid on our off time what we made at work we would never do project including cutting the grass. But we dont get paid on our off time so we can do things we like or pay someone else I choose the therapy of doing them myself.

For a business that pulls drives daily, Yardarm might be a consideration. For those of us that only need the use of one a couple times a yr, I'll make a quicky (read inexpensive-to nothing) setup and put the cost of a store bought stand in my fuel tank.
Plus, I get more satisfaction making something than buying it.

Over $1,000.00. I bought the HD probabley 5 years ago. I think I paid around $700.00. No shipping because I live in Indianaplolis - I bought it direct from Yardarm. Here is a distributor:

We recently bought a boat with twins and the HD just barely has the height to remove the drives. We have to disconnect the trailer and raise the tongue jack.

Alot of us might yank drive once a year and dont have a big shop
I store my lift hanging from the wall and store the atv lift under my motorcycle.
Sure beats haveing to muscle it on and off.
Not a yardarm but does the job just like the other home made stand on this thread.
