I don't think a solvant tank could clean a cooler properly. To do it right the end caps need to come off. Solvant tank woulden't have enough pressure. I take all my coolers to a rad. shop. They take the ends off and re-braze them back on.

If you are cleaning it because you trashed an engine I will tell you from experience to throw it in the trash can. I thought I cleaned one out after spinning a bearing, and the next engine lasted 10 hours. I tore the old one apart to see exactly how they are built. I like saving money just like the next guy but that is one area I would not skimp on. I also replaced all the hoses after my expensive lesson

I agree, if the engine did not have anything in oil the cooler should be flushable, if it had crap in oil, toss it.
