I cant imagine the M4 is using that much less power than my M5. I have the dyno set as it would be in the boat. everything is on it, pwr steeering, water pump, alt.
I really wonder if my headers are the restriction I have the E-tops. I might see if I can get a larger set for the dyno just to compare.
Were at 13+AFR we tuned down to 12 AFR, ended up w/1140hp @5600 rpm torque stayed about the same. 13 is ok for a car, a boat won't live long.....

Alt, water, no pwr steering on this motor

I wasn't there for the dyno pulls today..... just talked over the phone w/Ben. He will email me the dyno sheets tonight or tomorrow, the I will pass along so some one can post them. I'm pleased w/the power, I want the motor to live.....a while??

Default Update

Feels like I have been here before… the new pistons are more like a NA motor with the D shape dish to take advantage of good quench when not in boost, the old pistons were just a dish with a valve relief. Plus the skirts and tops are coated…
The head gaskets are custom made, Cometic does not stock a MLS for the Merlin block..
The new cam specs are slightly less duration, more lift 112 LC and 5 deg built in advance. The regrind is the new card.
I hope it’s dressed tomorrow and on the dyno Thursday, it will be interesting. I hope to have some more in the bottom end and mid, but not lose anything up top. We will see…

Getting there, should be on the dyno by Friday, and in the boat sometime over the weekend. Water testing Monday.
Some pics of the damaged pistons. At least 4 were this bad. Interesting it was near the intake valve relief. It is a thin area. You can see it is out of round there, got really hot expanded scrubbed against the cyl wall and warped due to heat. I have a NTK O2 to test with accel said the standard O2 sensor can be of up to 1 AF under boost. I will see. I have not found any big tube headers to try yet.
