Timing ?
Since I pulled the dizzy for the head gaskets, how does the timing work on one of these with the EFI? I know on my truck even if you put the dizzy back in the same exact spot you have to use a scanner to reset the timing is it the same on a gen 6 502 MAG? I marked the rotor and the base to intake so I can get it back to where it came out. Does the ECM control the timing after the base setting?
Thanks
Shawn

SO if I get it back in were it was I just need to check it with a analog light? Do I need to jump any wires or ground anything to get to a base setting mode?

you either need a scanner/computer to get it in base timing mode, or you can jump out the plug. do a search here for base timing mode and you will see which connections need to be jumped

Find the data link connector and see if the terminals are labeled on the end. Jumper A and B to get the ECM in base timing, then set the timing at 8 deg BTDC. You will likely need to rev the engine to about 1500 rpm then install the jumper because the speed will drop substantially when the jumper is installed. Good Luck.
