I need to replace my SB drive trim indicator cable. I have the replacement cable (Teleflex CCX-63317). Can I tape it to the existing cable and pull it through? Which end should I start at to pull? The dash indicator or the drive?

All depends on whether the current cable has cable ties on it. You can try to tape the new one and pull. Another option is to pull a rope/ string out with the old one. Then pull the new one with the string. You are more than likely going to have to dig around looking to where it was supported/ cable tied though.
I would pull the old one out toward the drive and use a 2 man method to pull the new one from the drive to the front. All depends on the size of the cable ends. my .02

Replaced the cable today. There went 3 hrs I will never get back!
I had to figure out the gauge hardware by feel, as it would have required much disassembly to remove the gauge and actually see how it was assembled (Gaffrig). I could do it in 1/2 the time on the next one now that I know how it works. I pulled the old cable from the transom and taped the new one to the old one at the helm. Once I got to the engine compartment, I untapped, pulled the old one out and fed the new one in. Glad it is done!
