One of the first things I had to do when I got it was adjust the chokes and floats. Cold starts it is now great but warm starts is when it is blowing the soot and smoke. I'm starting to think powervalves myself but have not had the time (or cooperative weather) to get into doing the massive carb cleaber treatment and blowing it out.

powervalve, should be a 800 double pumper, when you pull metering block off after running and the dia side of the powervalve is wet, it's blown, can look into the chamber behind and should be dry..

WOW, If they dribble over the Floats MAY be too high, or if there was an air bleed plugged it would do the same thing. Of course the carb needs to be clean etc. and have good power valves, etc. But i bet you will find the answer to your problems in your secondary throttle blade opening. There is a spec, and as things wear you will find that they tend to be a bit more open, allowing it to pull in more fuel, and giving you all those symptoms. Jet sizing wont effect your idle mixture, Good luck,
