Question about 1989 thunderbolt iv ignition module part numbers
Hi,
My boat is an 89 scarab 23' which has a mercruiser magnum 350 in it.
Last fall I began to diagnose a no start/no run issue but ran out of time.
I am pretty sure the issue is the ignition module at this point and may want to pickup a used one from Ebay
I need the TB IV V8-22 module and my question is do the numbers stamped into the part before the "V8-22" matter?
My module reads 8J02A V8-22
I recently saw one for sale that read 3M16A V8-22
what does the first set of numbers mean?
Is it just the 22 degrees that is the concern?
Thanks for the help
Jason

the v8 22 means its for a ve and the 22 means the module has a total of 22* of advanve built into it..so take your initial timing of 10* and add 22* which give you 32* of total advance..
ok now replace the pick up in the distributor first before you buy a new module..those always fail compared to the module.
