I've just installed an hydraulic helm and hoses from Everett Performance. I'm in the process of bleeding the system according to their instructions by loosening the fittings on the cylinder and turning the helm slowly. I am also running the wheel back and forth to work the air out. Off course this is with the engine off. When I run the wheel back and forth you can feel the gears in the helm, is this normal?

Once the engine is running and the steering bled correctly it will be smooth as can be. 0 noise and as easy if not easier then the steering on your car.
while turning the wheel while bleeding it will have a gear on gear feel through the wheel and a whirring sound.
