I think I remember seeing some pickups running around a few years ago with a 502SS decal on the bed? But the odds of finding one junked is most likely zero..... The next engine I build will be an aftermarket block and big cubes with closed cooling......

If you get the 502 GM crate engine and maranize it, be sure to replace the 11 psi oil pressure relief valves to either 30 psi or block the hole off....GM has a warning on this and so does Merc...We installed a steel freeze plug to block the off the valve hole......This is for oil cooler and or remote oil filter set ups on your boat... ( I know-I blew my brand new 502)

The Only 'new vehicles' to have 502 installed by 'the factory' are boats.
As mentioned, 502's built by Chevrolet are/where only available 'over the counter.'
As far as 502's in trucks, Chevrolet (GMPP) had a EPA Legal kit to install a specific 502 in the 454 throttle body trucks. Thus why some have seen or own a 454SS with a 502 installed. This was a very low power peanut port headed 502. Was barely over 300hp.

Found the over the counter 502 kit for the older throttle body injection 454 trucks:

This new emission-legal (50 state) Retro-Kit engine conversion kit is designed for 1991-93 Chevrolet and GMC 10, 20 and 30-series trucks with 2-wheel drive, originally equipped with a 454 TBI engine and 4L80E automatic overdrive transmission. (Will not work on 4-wheel drive because of exhaust interference.) Factory engineered for improved towing performance, the massive GEN 6 502 big-block is a bolt-in replacement for a high mileage 454. The increased displacement and improved breathing produces a significant improvement in pulling power over the production 454 truck engine.
The 502 engine is tuned for torque with high velocity round port heads and Vortec L29 hydraulic roller camshaft. This combination yields 515 lb ft. of torque at a stump pulling 2800 rpm and 320 horsepower at 4400 rpm. This retro-kit engine package uses the same rugged bottom end as the 502 HO engine assembly. The siamesed bore block incorporates four-bolt main bearing caps, a forged steel crankshaft, heavy duty connecting rods and forged aluminum pistons. The long block assembly comes fully assembled and is designed to utilize the existing 454 TBI inlet manifold, ignition system and accessory drive components.
A specific engine computer chip, dual catalyst exhaust system, and additional fuel and transmission hardware is included to complete the conversion. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has issued an exemption order for this conversion.

the timing was to high in the middle of the rpm range and they pulled it out on the top end to limit rpm.down to about 24° total at wot.thats why you couldn't just crank up the wot timing, mid timing would head towards 50°.I use to make chips for my truck and it could run on reg fuel and had 35° total at 3500 all the way up to 5200rpm.
I also change the tbi to holley single plane and a 1000cfm throttlebody and 8 injectors.
