I was just about to install the intake manifold on my 97 383 stroker carb motor and realized I hadn't considered whether to leave the exhaust crossover blocked.
I am using the 350 MAG intake. it's a very nice dual plane high rise intake from Chevrolet. It came from the factory with the crossover in service. The carburetor has an electric choke.
My heads are iron Dart SS with a compression ratio that will come in at 9.8:1.
I see no reason to heat the intake with exhaust gas. I'm thinking I want to get the exhaust out of there.
Any argument?

Felpro #1204. Great gasket.
10hp or so closing off that damn severe intake heat.
I always close them off. I don't run chokes...lol.

Just in case, I'm not saying to not run your choke.
BTW: those GM Bowtie cast iron intakes are great. I've used and sold a quazzillion of them. They even come with a oil baffle to keep hot oil from heating up the bottom of the intake.

I like a choke. I don't slip my boat right now, I've been day dunking last year and this.
The marina I use has a funky turn out of the ramp and a bit of a trip to the end of no wake. They are big on sailing.
I make sure my engine runs dependably. I'd become a target if I had a chokeless snorting setup around a bunch of sailboats, cruisers and runabouts. They'd probably be tempted to ask me to leave. So I kinda lay low.

I always blocked mine. I think they were really for cold weather starts (well below freezing) to help keep the gas from pooling in the bottom of the intake. You don't see that in a pleasure boat.
