8.1 fuel rails
What are some options for 8.1 fuel rails. I have the 2 line setup with a supply and a return line. With the low pressure and high pressure fuel cell. I was looking to get away from the factory fuel rails that rust up on the I side. But have had very limited success finding any info on aftermarket or even just new rails.

Does your fuel rail look like this ?

The automotive is different from the marine. The regulator is different depending on what year and VIN you have.
There is no stainless steel substitute. If you get new ones, you can use Mueller primer and paint them, but thats as good as you'll get.

I have a rail off a truck and it is exactly the same I just swapped out regulator on it. The inside is what starts rusting a corroding from my understanding

There is a company on E-Bay that supposedly has a bunch of new take-off's with injectors for less $$$$. Ran by it the other week for something else so I have just a vague memory and no saved notes of it.
I found the Rock Auto deal by looking up the fuel rail on AcDelco.com and using that part# for an internet search.

The fuel pressure regulator is in the GEN II and the GEN III cool fuel set up NOT ON THE FUEL RAIL. That is a fuel rail PULSE Dampner.
Here is a good Merc OEM service bulletin about the federal recall for it. I have posted this before about the fuel rail dampner for info.
Even on some GM auto side apps it was called a dummy regulator

Swapping out the regulator internals... you sure you trust that? If its the type with a star adjustor you might be OK but if its the non adjustable type you better verify fuel pressure or you are building a time bomb... That dinky regulator has caused more than one 496 to implode. Use can use the stock rail, cut off the regulator and use an external Aeromotive regulator.
How much moisture is in your gas? When I took mine apart every time there was never rust on the inside.

the rails and the fuel pulse damper corrode internal a lot of it depending how well or not you maintain your fuel system adds to the problems. Also I have seen pin holes on the seems of the rails. Earlier 496's more so than later 496's. I would say 2004 / 2005 around and back. Maybe 2004 and back -- they were worse for internal corrosion issues especially in poor maintained fuel systems.
2 stroke motor oil soup mix for lay ups and fuel samples are the key for marine fuel system apps .
