383’s can make some pretty good power. What you using for cam and heads? Unless you already listed…. I’ll go back and look

LS swap is a whole other game. Exhaust manifolds are expensive. You’ll have quite a bit of work involved there. I just LS swapped my boat. Advantages are power to weight and fuel injection if you don’t carb it. I wouldn’t go that path if you have a viable 383.

ps did you get that block line honed? Check the gaps with plastigauge?
while you’re there ask them about converting 2 bolt to 4 bolt main (splayed if can).

JMO However I wouldn’t bother with the splayed caps. Proper machine work and balancing it’ll be fine. I’ve yet to prove a two bolt main block otherwise at least under 6k rpm and 600 hp.

I have not plastigauged it yet, but I am going to. I did not line hone it.
I just wanted to see if the crank spins free in the bolck, with no binding or tight spots, which it does.

I tested two different cranks, a stock GM 350 crank, turned .010 and .010 under bearing and it felt perfect. This crank with standard bearings feels the same.

A lot of the good name bearings are being shipped with up to 0.0015" bevel.

A full bearing width length of plastigage would help to identify an issue.

Interested to see how the Liberty SBC Forged crank performs.

It seems SCAT has been changing up their production process.

Apparently the 9000 series came to Scat in crappy boxes from China, and repackaged in their Scat boxes. They were machined in China.

The forged cranks came to Scat in the nice boxes already, and machined by Scat.

Now...all cranks come in the crappy boxes.

Read into it what you will...bit as parts get more expensive, it does not pay to make a weak link in the crank.

The engine is back in the boat guys.

I had it fully internal balanced. We cut the weight off the flywheel and made it neutral.

New pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump and a slight hone.

I also figure out my MSD ignition coil was bad. While running the boat with the engine hatch off, it started to rain, and the boat died, like I shut the key off.

After some troubleshooting I suspected the coil. I still had the original GM coil. so I put it on the boat. Problem solved.

I am going to try and get it on the water this weekend.
