Default Input from you 33ZX owners

Doing a little shopping. Wanted to get some input on the ride, weight, amenities of a 33ZX. The wife said she wanted some headroom and a descent bathroom space. What kind of room in the cabin and cockpit?

According to specs the boat weighs 9800lbs. for a 33 thats awful heavy isn't it?

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Shawn

The ZX line of boats from Donzi are definitely heavy. I looked at several 33's before getting into a 38, and they are amazing in both amentities and ride quality. They have plenty of headroom for a 33' boat, so it keeps the wife happy, but it'll still run near 80 with 500's which isn't too shabby for a 10k LB. boat.

I traded in a 33zx last year for a new 38ZR. The 33 definitely had a lot more headroom in the cabin. Ran 80 with 500's. 33 would chine walk at higher speeds. Great boat though, had no problems at all with it, just wanted more MPH.

No I never did. I sure would like some though.

I may have my boat on the market soon, so if you still have Live Wire I could still possibly be interested. Do you have it listed anywhere right now?

Thanks

I own a 33zx w/496 ho motors.... Boat runs in mid 70s.... Again, my wife wanted the head room in the cabin so we comprimised. The bathroom is rather small but it gets the job done. I have three small children and we all sleep in it fine. Good Luck....... JA

I own a 2003 33ZX, 496HO's, honest 70 MPH boat, sometimes a bit more. Mine weighs 10,174 pounds dry.
Yes, a very heavy boat. Attaining 70-72 with this boat is due to the Donzi Hull Design, impressive if you ask me.
Likes:
- THE RIDE, you will not be scared or beaten in big water if you find the sweet spot.
- Very roomy, in the cabin, 5'10" head room
9'3" beam, the 33ZX is a BIG boat.
- Get a 15,000 lb hauling capability HD trailer, add fluids and she is much heavier. 174 Gallon Fuel Tank, 30 Gallon fresh water. Do the math.
- Power bolster and foot rests.
- Throttle location in reference to where your arm lays.
- Lots of storage
- Great for a family or 5 people onboard for the day or overnighting at a marina or on the hook.
- Fridge holds lots of beverages and cools down fast.

Dislikes:
- Amp location under sink, gets hot on occassion
- Table is not practicle, it is removable and I keep mine in storage.
- Shore power plug location, it is on the gunnel port side (no biggie though)
- Fresh water pump is not ideally mounted, mine is now.
- Microwave, not securely mounted IMHO, mine is now.

I've owned 3 Donzi ZX's, so I am a believer, if you have any questions just ask or PM me. Donzi's are not perfect, they have some issues as do all boats, regardless of what anyone thinks.

alamping,

What year is your 33 daytona, what power, etc. I've been considering upgrading this year. I really like the 33zx donzi.
