Default Ext Hydraulic steering for 22 Classic

I've been posting alot about the 22 classic...quite simply because I love the boat! I test drove one a couple months ago and it had external hyraulic (dual ram) steering, not sure if it was Latham or Imco. Does Donzi offer this as an option? If so, which brand?

They have a myriad of options for the classic. Ask the guys at donzi.net. They know pretty much everything about Donzi classics

It's standard on the Shelby GT-22. I think it's a Zeiger setup.

I'm sure you can pay extra on the standard 22 if you want it, but it may make more financial sense to just upgrade to the Shelby.

22 Classic is an awesome boat. Unfortunately they are not making anymore Shelby 22's (limited run of 50 units).

The 22 Classics we have ordered have had Latham external steering, which is required for the 496 HO motor. A dealer in California had several 22 and Shelby's listed in the classifieds recently, you might check them out.

When did they start "requiring" hydraulic steering on the HO boats??

I dunno but they ought to require it on the 18's with 350 mag and up engines also. That boat gets squirrely at 70 without it.

Not entirely sure, I've worked here for 3 model years and it has been listed as "required" for 2006, 2007, and 2008. It may be required by Coast Guard or NMMA to be certified.

The boats you ordered are coming with Latham steering or you order them with Latham steering instead of the Zeiger steering.....just curious....

My 2006 22c did not have it & it had an 496 Mag ho b1 x.. The Zieger & latham were options if I remeber correctly.. My 06 26zx has Latham on it.. Donzi uses (used) both systems from what I have seen & it sometimes depended on the hull. For example the 27zr had Zeiger..

If it was me I would consider ordering it with the hyd steeering if you ever plan on upping the speed.. Just my 2cents..
