Had Doug Valentine (former Donzi team driver) test my boat last week with 31 p Herring's 5-blade took forever to get on plane. We got Bob Teague involved and he is sending over some Maxis 30 p we will try next week.

The Herring props tested came with the boat, I'm the second owner. They do not have the defused ring, I assume they a lapped since they came that way from Herring. We tested the boat in fresh water with a 1/2 tank of fuel got 82 mph at 5200 rpm and slow to plane out of the hole. Low hour boat new condition, engines are perfect. Doug and Bob both feel the Maxis will retify the problem. I appreciate your suggestions, this is all new to me.

GK,
I had same boat with 525's, Hering props are very hard to get on plane with. If you get in rough water with a full boat you will really struggle. I would see a solid 89 with those props, I also had a set of labbed merc maximus which did plane easier but you will lose 3-4 mph for the trade off. I now have a ZR with 600's and the blow out on the herrings is even worse, but once you get going they are awesome.
Good Luck! If you find a better prop combination, please post your results.

Today I got 85 mph trimmed at 3-4 with the Herrings but takes too long to get on plane. Bob Teague will be sending me some 30 maxis this week. Hpfully that will work.
