The 38zx is a tank and a great boat for both speed and entertaining. It has a wide beam and a huge cabin and still will run mid to high 80's with the 575's. If the motors are fresh (new or rebuilt) they are a great package. I have a pair and love them. As for flipping/spin out issues, I have not heard of any. I know the 45zx had some balance issues that made it ride too forward on the steps.
My understanding was that the all the other zx's were well balanced and ran solid.

As for price, well it is like anything else. It depends on supply/demand and the quality of the boat. In this market, $100,000 for an average one and maybe up to $120,000 for a super clean shows as new. Sure some are going to go for $70-90K in fire sales and needing 20k+ worth of work.
Except for a select few deals....you usually get what you pay for.

One other thought.
I am a huge Donzi fan.
That said, there are some really nice twin step Top Guns in the $150K range right now. That would be my choice over a 38Zx. However, they do not have the entertaining room a Zx has. It all depends on how you like to boat.

Wilks is right...

There is a 2000 38' Daytona 600's beautiful boat that can be bought for 70k @ LOTO........

The fantasy market for boats is never coming back........

150k would be good for an all original 17 hour boat.

There are two in the classifieds here, a 500 efi boat for 119k and a 496 boat asking 85k. The best deal that I know of, and IMO, is the one in Sarasota asking 80k with 500's.

The ZX is a niche market boat. They are big compared to other performance boats but small compared to a cruiser. One of the reasons the prices are lower is they built a lot of them so there is plenty of competition in the resale market. I know of 8 currently for sale.

The market is still coming back so I think it will get better for these boats. A well maintained 38 with generator and A/C is only going to go so low.

I talked to the seller. It sold after the auction.

Just saw that 600 boat. Looks like no generator and needs a good waxing. other than that, very nice. Seems like a good deal to me.

Well now I know that the 150k is way to high ill keep looking, wife is pretty much set on the 38zx.... I'm not worried about speed, just handling and cabin!

I do have to admit, the size of the 38 caught me off guard!

Thanks for the links!!!

Good luck and I know of another one avail in great shape if you want to pm me. Good luck, hope this helps. Hammer
Thank you sir!... I've looked at others and they are all about 50k cheaper, I think 80k to 100k can get me a nice turn key 38!!
