TRS problem
Yesterday was running along at about 3800 rpm when all of a sudden boat slowed and rpm's raced. Backed it off and stopped. When put it back in gear, nothing, prop didn't turn. Pulled it out of water and removed the prop. Noticed the hub on inside was shredded. OK-thats makes sense. Next, when I turned the prop by hand, while on the drive, it turned as normal until it got to one point where it made a clunking sound and was sloppy. Noise sounds like it is coming from the lower end near the prop shaft. Same noise when prop removed and prop shaft turned by hand.
Sound like I broke a tooth or two of a gear??

Sounds like you broke the lower unit gear set. I bet it's the right hand unit as they are weaker than the left.
If you want to say goodbye to drive failure, give me a call in the morning. I can send out a pair of Konrad drives and have you up and running by the weekend.
