Smile Lower units with nosecone XR

Hi guys

Have a XR 1,50:1. Since my v-hull 28 Arrow prob are a +100mph boat I can use a nose cone. Is it possible to get a new empty housing with nose cone and just move over the gear set from the housing without nose cone? I dont like that "Glue your nose cone self"-kits.

Any idea?

Thanks for your advices.

Purchase a Merc XR Sportmaster lower housing it has a nose cone, also has a low water pickup in the bottom of the cone. This housing is stronger than standard XR. Move your existing shafts, bearings, gears, etc to new housing. You must reshim to Merc. specs! Any Merc vender or maybe an OSO member can sell you one. There are professional drive builders on OSO that can help you.

You don´t already have one ?
Guess I´m not the only one with empty pockets...
Here Mange...why didn´t you ask me first ?
The lower only case, which is far better than a Sportmaster lower, is on Sale for just under 2K.
*the grey Speedster24 has a 2inch shorter one which needs shorter axles ,naturally.

There is someone selling a complete imco lower on here for uner $3000. It is assmebled and has the 1 1/4" propshaft. It is a 2" shorty though. Look in the classifieds or on the swap shop when it gets back. I think this is the same guy.

If yes I think Mange should consider it.

You can go to the classified ad section. Do an advanced search under lower units and drives, key word
Sportmaster. Make sure it is an XR version not an outboard. They come in standard length and 2" shorty. There are many merc venders in this area that can sell you one or a vender will read your thread and pm you.

Or you can buy an IMCO stock length lower gearcase without the internals and have your own internals installed. The IMCO gearcase has their nose cone molded right into the casting design.
